“Do something today that your future self will be thankful for.” – Sean Patrick Flanery
Good morning, sunshine! It’s such a great pleasure to see you here on Day #86 in A Year of Positivity! I’ve got another pretty awesome quote for you. Today’s boost in positivity is an inspiration from Sean Patrick Flanery when he spoke, “Do something today that your future self will be thankful for.”
I can totally appreciate this quote because it’s like giving your future self a gift. Sort of, lol. For example, I am working on Nightmare in the Mirror, which is the third installment of my Broken series. The manuscript is still mostly in my head, as I’m slowly easing my way back into writing as I finish recovery of my broken left wrist. However, I have a few scenes already written out (from before my fall in July).
I’m a visual person, and seeing a ray of images and graphics actually invokes inspiration and creativity. It isn’t always like that, but I do love to have an image of my book on hand so that my creative juices flow as fluidly as possible. I created the book cover for the second book in my Broken series, Dawn of Darkness, long before I finished its final rough draft.
I’ve officially finished creating the cover for her upcoming sister novel, Nightmare in the Mirror, and every time I look at it, I’m truly inspired and motivated to write. Like I said before, I’m slowly easing back into my writing, but this is one kind of my gift to myself. When the manuscript is finished and her rounds of editing are completed, then I can zip right through the book cover process, and be one step closer to the publication date.
There are all kinds of things you can do today that your future self will thank you for. Just don’t limit any of the possibilities. It’s best to take into consideration what goals and plans you have in mind. What can you do today, now, to get you one step further – even if it’s just a baby step, or a tip-toe? Usually the first thing that comes to mind is the best answer. So, give it a try, and turn it into a fun experience that’ll be worth your time. You never know, it might just be the stepping stone that you never knew you needed.
