Day #74 in A Year of Positivity

“Either you run the day or the day runs you.” – Jim Rohn

I thought this was a pretty valuable quote to bring for today. It reminds me about yesterday and the way I handled the entire day. I was fine when I first woke up, had all sorts of positivity, and I was raring to go. Once I got to work, everything went haywire, starting with system malfunctions left and right. I lost nearly half my day in what I should’ve been doing, but couldn’t do, because of focusing on system issues.

Hello, and welcome to Day #74 in A Year of Positivity! I hope all is well and that you’re all in good health! Today’s quote of positivity comes from Jim Rohn, “Either you run the day or the day runs you.”

I had not had a day like this in what felt like forever. I was incredibly frustrated because it was the end of the month, and there was so much to do. The computer system frustrations made me want to just throw everything out a window, though that’s not something I would even do, even with my own personal stuff.

On top of that, my wrist was hurting, and by this point, everything seemed to get on my last nerve. Every little, teeny, tiny thing annoyed me something awful. Whether I was working or not, I literally needed to let my frustrations out in a scream, because it felt like the world was out to get me. In a sense, it was, because I let the day run me. Instead of running the day, I let the small things get to me, and thus the day ran me.

After a night of rest, with the thought in mind that, “Tomorrow is a new day and a reset,” I woke up again with a smile on my face and decided, “Not today, satan,” which I spoke out loud too. I went to a follow-up occupational therapy visit, and when I got to my work laptop, I purposefully logged in with the intent to only run the day with patience, a smile with a stroke of loud verbal and mental positivity and the constant reminder to keep my pace about the day steady. Would you know, this actually worked?

So, don’t let the day run you ragged.
Be the boss and run the day!
