Greetings, everyone, and thank you for joining me on Day #73 in A Year of Positivity! Today’s quote comes from Doreen Virtue, and it’s short and sweet, “Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.”

We tend to please people, even the people we love the most. Sometimes we don’t even realize that we’re doing it, even when we say we don’t. There were times I cared about everyone’s opinion of me, and I kept trying to do what I thought was pleasing people, but people still judged me. I grew to let those people in the general sense go.

However, I still cared about the opinions of my loved ones. After all, if I need help with something, then I have people I can turn to for advice, which is asking them of their opinions and whatnot. This is okay … to an extent. We can choose or not choose to take others’ opinions at face value. What’s absolutely not okay is when others’ opinions of us are toxic and negatively impactful on us in any way.

I’ve been around a few people who dulled my sparkle with their toxic, negative opinions. It took me a long time to realize that’s what they were doing. It took me a long time to figure out I didn’t deserve their behavior towards me, which made me think I wasn’t meant to shine as bright as I did before I met them. Now, where are these people in my life today? Well, simply put, they’re not in my life, and I’m much better off without all that negativity!

So, don’t let anyone’s opinions of you shape you negatively in any shape or form, and don’t absorb the toxicity from anyone who brings you down. These are the people that’ll dull your sparkle. Don’t give them that power! Just keep on being you, keep doing your thing, and keep that sparkle going! You’ve got this!
