“If you want to soar in life, you must first learn to FLY (First Love Yourself).” – Mark Sterling
Hello and thank you for checking out Day #18 in A Year of Positivity! While looking for a good quote, I stumbled upon this one by Mark Sterling, “If you want to soar in life, you must first learn to FLY (First Love Yourself).” This is a pretty powerful quote, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. If one doesn’t love themselves, and doesn’t believe in themselves, they won’t get very far.
Personally, I’ve been through a lot in life, not only in my childhood and adolescence but also as an adult. I won’t sit and write about it all because it would take me a week to write everything out. However, I speak from personal experience when I say that I know what it’s like to not believe in myself, to not love myself. Oh, for the longest time, I was my own worst enemy in several ways. When I didn’t love myself, when I didn’t believe in myself, I condemned myself and subconsciously tried to destroy all the good things in my life, and subconsciously tried telling myself I didn’t deserve any of it.
Somewhere along the way, some people who are very dear to me showed me the path to a better way of living. Now, I am a better person today than I was just a few years ago. I’m not perfect, and I’ll always make mistakes, but I know that I’m human, and that all humans make mistakes. That doesn’t mean I’m not worthy of better things to come. Mistakes are just a learning lesson, a stepping stone, onto a path of something greater in store. So, I stopped condemning myself, and began believing in myself in all that I do, and where I am today is a far cry from where I was five years ago, or even ten years ago.
If you are someone who could benefit from today’s quote, I hope it will help you a great deal! Believe in yourself and be kind to yourself when you make mistakes. We all make about 50,000 mistakes or so in our lifetime. You’ve got this. I know you do!
