Ciao, and welcome to Day #39 in A Year of Positivity! I came across a fantastic quote, though I couldn’t figure out who the author was. If you know who the author is, let me know, so that I can provide credit where it’s due! The quote says, “Don’t dim your light just to make others comfortable. Instead, shine unapologetically.” This quote jumped out at me because it reminded of the fact that there will always be haters, people who don’t like me or you.

These are the people who don’t want to see us succeed in things and in life more than they have. They watch us like hawks and wait for us to fail. Sometimes we know exactly who they are, sometimes they’re hiding in plain sight. When we know it’s someone we love and care about, someone whose opinions we care a great deal for, this is when we dim our light to make them comfortable. These people are envious of something that we’re succeeding in, or they’re envious of how happy we are, and how well things are going for us.

Don’t dim your light for them. What they want, and what they aren’t getting, that’s not on you – that’s on them. Their success and their happiness, that’s also not on you – it’s on them. Everyone’s happiness, everyone’s success, that’s different from everyone else, and what they do or don’t do to achieve that happiness or success, that is something they have to figure out for themselves. So, focus on you, and don’t dim your light for them. Believe in yourself, my darlings, and please keep that beautiful light of yours shining as bright as you possibly can!
