Day #251 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for the letters my Dad wrote to me.
I believe I mentioned these letters in my final post in the series of finding my biological father, or possibly in an entirely different post. However, I am genuinely thankful that I have them. He wrote them to me only four weeks into getting to know me after we found each other. Most of them are written as if he were giving me advice as I was growing up, as if he’d been there, and telling me how proud he was to be my dad. Then, of course, one is a set of lyrics to a song, and then there’s a letter with specific instructions to only open it upon his passing. I miss him dearly, but I’m at peace, knowing one day soon I’ll be joining him when the Lord finally calls me Home. For now, I enjoy hearing his voice while I read the letters, and the memories bring me comfort. These letters are so precious to me.
