Day #177 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for a special musical surprise from Laura.

You’ve heard me talk about my sweet, precious friend Laura from northern Italy before. She’s the lead singer in a band that she and her fiancé are in together, and they’re in the middle of making their first official album. They’ve got an Owl City-like, rock-meets-electronica vibe to their sound, and it’s been so exciting to be privy to some songs they’ve been working on. Today, my beautiful bestie revealed a brand-new one, and it is absolutely incredible! When I told her I loved it and how relatable it is to me, she told me something I never expected.

Laura said I was her inspiration for the song and that she wrote it for me. Her surprise made me cry in the best way. If I could wrap up in one song how I have felt for most of my life, this would be the one. She knows me so well, and she did a phenomenal job with this magnificent song. I cannot wait for the day that I can take off to Italy and cheer her and her band on from the front row of the crowd at one of their shows (and give her plenty of hugs). It’s too early to share the song, but when their album is available, I’ll be the first one to shout it from the rooftops. Hai fatto un’ottimo lavoro, Laura! Ti voglio bene, e sono così orgogliosa di te. 💖😘🌹
