Day #170 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for my mini solo trip and for returning home safely.
I had certain things in mind for the relaxation part of my mini solo getaway. However, I forgot a few things I wanted to bring and enjoy during my downtime. In a way, I’m glad I didn’t bring that stuff along, because it would’ve been extra stuff to carry, and I was too tired, anyway. After the fun evening I had yesterday, it turned out that all I needed was simply to decompress and give myself some time to process everything that happened in the day. I was overstimulated, my eyes were burning (allergies, I think), and I was glad to be offline. I’d even turned off my cell phone. I lost count of how many things I was thankful for, but I definitely appreciated every one that came to mind. I gave thanks to the Lord for everything He’s provided for me, and then I was out like a light.
The trip was supposed to be a three-hour drive to and from Connecticut. However, I encountered a traffic jam in both directions. Today, I had to drive through a storm in New Jersey that was dangerously close to whiteout conditions, so I had to pull over for a few minutes until the rain and fog let up. It goes without saying that I’m also thankful I made it home safely. Overall, this trip was totally worth the time, money, and energy I invested in it, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat, with a few extra days added.
