“Take the time to enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”—Robert Brault
Today was one of those days when the little things matter. I’m currently sitting on the sofa, looking across the room at my grandma, watching her take a little evening nap. After the delightful afternoon we’ve had with my legal father and stepdad, she is now exhausted. Actually, she told me a few minutes ago that she hasn’t felt well these past couple of weeks, but she can’t quite put her finger on what it is. Her words, combined with the great day we had, remind me how time is one of those little things that we take for granted. I’m keeping my eye on her, but I’m also thankful for all the time I get with her, my legal father and stepdad, as well as everyone else I love and care about. One day, when they have all passed from this world, the little moments I’ve had with them will be big things I’ll never get to have again on this side of eternity. Take the time to enjoy the little things.
