Day #135 in A Year of Thanks

Day #135 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful some of my rose bushes are blossoming.

All the rose bushes have grown so luscious and green, and the Neem oil worked great at getting every aphid off my Mr. Lincoln. However, it feels like it’s been taking forever to see the rose buds growing. We’ve had a lot of rain these past few days. Now, some of the rose bushes are starting to bloom! I was so happy to see a few buds opening off the Mr. Lincoln, Margaret Merril, and the Peace rose. Next in line is the Touch of Class, which is my all-time favorite, as she smells the best, and she’s also the tastiest. Yes, I said that right. I eat rose petals.

You can eat every variety of rose, as they’re nutritious and great for your skin. As long as you’re not using pesticides with chemicals, the petals of every true rose are edible. Even though some rosehips are edible, you must be incredibly careful when harvesting them to avoid the toxic ones. I will eat the petals of most of my rose bushes in a salad, turn them into a salad dressing, and even turn them into a tea, though the only one I don’t actually eat is Mr. Lincoln. He’s a Damascus rose with a potent scent and taste that resembles perfume, so Mr. Lincoln gets harvested for my skin care routine. I can’t wait. Sono eccitatissimo. Bloom, my beautiful roses, bloom!
