“Let the chips fall where they may.”
Humans tend to try to control how plans and events will turn out because it makes us uncomfortable to not know what will happen. This is one of our motivators for making plans, setting goals, etc. The truth is, there will always be consequences, either negative or positive. If they’re positive, we celebrate in some way or bask in the enjoyment of the sweet rewards. If the results are negative, we criticise ourselves and/or spiral into a negative mental state. I’ve been occupied by several matters this year, and I suddenly realized today how I’ve been trying to “control” the outcomes with the steps and goals I have created for myself. I recognize that I need to take a step back, take a deep breath, and let the chips all where they may as I keep growing in the best version of myself that I can be. Whatever happens, happens, and I will trust my Lord and Savior to take care of everything else.
