Day #51 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn a second language.

I’m sitting here on the sofa in the living room, thinking about this exclusive community I rejoined a short time ago that connects me with Italians worldwide. I can’t help but smile as I think about how incredible it is to have this opportunity to learn a second language, to begin to formulate my thoughts and emotions from the heart into sentences of a second language (for me) that belongs to another culture entirely apart from my own heritage. If you think deeply about it, it’s a very beautiful concept. Learning a second language opens your world to more beauty, life, and color than you ever thought possible. As you get to know the culture of the second language and the beating heart of it, its people, you get to know life through their eyes, mind, and heart. Human language fails me right now regarding how precious this kind of connection truly is. It’s just so beautiful. If you haven’t picked up a second language, I highly recommend that you do because it’s an incredible opportunity you don’t want to miss.
