Day #40 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful for rock salt.
The winter storm that rolled in last night brought us snow, sleet, and freezing rain. It went back and forth, and when I woke up this morning, there must have been about half an inch of ice all over the car and driveway. I’d put rock salt on the porch and pavement steps before the storm hit, making it easier for me to shovel away the icy, snowy mixture. The driveway was ridiculously hard, I broke my favorite shovel, and the car wouldn’t start again. We spent a better portion of the day trying to resolve the issue and figure it out with our neighbors with no success, so we’re sending it to the shop tomorrow. The afternoon was nice between 2-4 with the crisp, fresh air. I couldn’t scrape all the ice from the driveway, though the sun beaming down helped, and the rock salt was even more helpful. We’ve got three more winter storms headed our way, but it is winter, and we’ve got this.
