Day #24 in A Year of Thanks

Day #24 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m thankful that my grandmother is home again.

My Grams is finally home from the hospital. They discharged her late last night, and she seems in good spirits. Her oxygen levels are excellent, and her mental clarity is on par with where it should be. As expected, recovery is going to take a while, so she’ll need to take it easy and get plenty of rest between any physical activity so as not to overdo it and become so long-winded. I’ve already noticed this myself every time I try to clean and get a lot of stuff done at once, and I physically can’t.

I actually had to go back to the ER myself yesterday for further steroidal and nebulizer breathing treatments, as my doctor noticed during my follow-up telehealth visit that my shortness of breath was terrible every time I talked. It took a lot out of me to even speak every other word. He sent me to a different location than where my grandmother was so I could be seen quicker rather than waiting so many hours in the ER waiting room. After the extra, so much-needed help with my breathing, they sent me home with a 6-day steroid regimen. I can already tell a big difference in my breathing and how less frequently my coughing spells are, and it is such a relief, though I still run into major coughing spells if I talk long enough.

So, my grandmother and I will have plenty of rest over the next few weeks, and we will definitely take it easy. I think we’ve crossed over the most challenging part of COVID at this point. I’m just so incredibly thankful she’s finally home. Thank You, Abba! I’ve got my arms wide open, excited for the better days I know are coming for us.

La vita è bellissima!
(Life is very beautiful!)
