Day #18 in A Year of Thanks

Day #18 in A Year of Thanks:
I’m so thankful I can tolerate food and water again.

Usually, when I’m sick with the flu, I lose about 2 pounds a day because I can’t tolerate food or even water for a good five days or so. I literally have to sip on Gatorade, and it’s pure torture because of severe nausea, a fever, and a migraine due to losing fluids way faster than I’m able to rehydrate myself. I’m the serious water drinker in this family, and I’d dedicate a whole shelf to it in the fridge if my grandmother would let me. You could offer me a vast array of drink options, but if an ice-cold bottle of water is one of them, I’m 99.9% likely to prefer that option. So, when I can’t tolerate water or complain about it tasting like metal, that’s a massive problem for me.

I am so happy I can tolerate drinking water again after twenty-four hours of being unable to. Also, being able to eat again is another win for today. Chicken noodle soup has never tasted so delightful. It seriously hit the spot! Grams is still not feeling well, though I am doing everything I can for her while trying not to give her my COVID. Here’s to praying and hoping that tomorrow brings us an even better day!
