Day #60 in A Year of Positivity

“And still, I Rise.” – Maya Angelou

Ciao, my darling readers, and thank you for joining me on Day #60 in A Year of Positivity! I hope you’re all doing well! Another one of Maya Angelou’s quotes jumped out at me, so I’d like to share it, and I hope it inspires you. It’s a short quote, and it goes like this: “And still, I rise.” I love this quote because it speaks of persistence, no matter how many times you may fail or fall. I have a few awesome prominent examples to show you.

Did you know that Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper, and that he was told he didn’t have any imagination? Well, he proved his former employer wrong, and still makes millions of children smile today!

Did you know that Michael Jordan was cut from his 9th grade basketball team? Instead of accepting rejection, he went on to become one of the greatest basketball players!

Did you know that Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first TV show as an anchor in Baltimore, and that she was told she wasn’t fit for television? She created her own TV channel and is so successful in what she does!

Did you know that Stephen King’s Carrie was rejected 30 times before it became a hit? He even threw the manuscript out, but his wife salvaged it and, believing in him and his talent, convinced him to keep trying. So, he submitted it again, and then he became an enormous success!

Did you know that after Elvis Presley did his first performance at the Grand Ole Opry, he was immediately fired and told that he wasn’t going anywhere, and that he should just go back to driving a truck? He’s known around the world as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll!

These are just a few famous examples of people who experienced failure in various ways, but they didn’t let their falls prevent them from moving forward. They learned from their failures and made something of themselves. It really goes to show that no matter what stage you’re at in life, anyone can take those failures as learning opportunities and turn them into something wonderful. If you’re experiencing a failure or a setback in your life right now, and you’re bummed about it, don’t give up. Take it as a valuable experience, make something of the lessons it has for you, and stand back up again.

Rise up, my darlings, and shoot for the stars!
