“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
– Mother Teresa
Ciao and welcome back to Year of Positivity! Today’s quote is brought to you by a woman who’s known throughout the world as Mother Teresa, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
This quote resonates with me because it reminds me of my granduncle Donny before he passed away. The reason this quote reminds me of him is because he had this thing that he called “The Cascade Effect.” We had a long and beautiful discussion about it, and the way he described it was this. “The Cascade Effect” is when you say or do something which will affect someone else, whether you realize it, and then that person in turn will affect someone else in their path, and it just continues on a never-ending cycle.
It’s kind of the same thing here with this ripple affect Mother Teresa refers to in her quote. I don’t know about you, but this resonates with me because it really makes me think about my actions and whatnot. It’s important for us to realize that whatever we do in our lives, whether it’s something small or significant will affect someone else. It always has and it always will, whether we realize it or not.
Everything we do – and I do mean everything – matters. Every. Single. Thing. In keeping this in mind, I believe it can help us to improve our attitudes and help to turn our actions into more positive things for our lives and for the people in our lives. If it helps, we can start with small stuff first, like ensuring we make our beds, and washing the few dishes in the sink instead of waiting for someone else to wash them, etcetera.
So, what do you think? Does the Ripple Effect or Cascade Effect make you think? What stone will you cast next to create more positive ripples in your life?
